ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. | Colbi Maples scored a team-high 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, but the Grambling State University women's basketball team couldn't take New Mexico down, falling 86-50 on Tuesday night at The Pit.

Alexus Holt also helped pace the Lady Tigers, contributing 11 points with two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Lobos scored the first five points of the contest, Cierra Ellington got the Lady Tigers on the board with a fast-break layup at the 7:51 mark in the first quarter.
- UNM (6-3), who lead by as many as 12 in the opening frame, ended the period leading 21-11.
- Maples opened the second stanza with a layup, trimming the Lobos' lead to eight point, 21-13 with 9:30 left in the half.
- With the score set at 28-17, UNM embarked on a 13-4 run over the final 7:38 of the first half to carry a 45-21 lead into halftime.
- Grambling State was more efficient from the field in the third quarter, shooting 5-of-11 (45.5 percent). However, New Mexico kept their foot on the gas, stretching its lead to 34, 70-36, entering the fourth quarter.
- GSU continue to fight in the final period, matching UNM bucket-for-bucket down the stretch. But it was enough as the Lobos secured the 86-50 victory.

- The Lady Tigers shot 19-of-55 from the field (34.5 percent)
- The Lobos went 35-of-66 on field goal attempts (53.0 percent)
- Grambling State connected on 1-of-15 shots from three-point range (6.7 percent)
- New Mexico drained 8-of-22 from behind the arc (36.4 percent)
- GSU hit on 68.8 percent of its free throws (11-of-16)
- UNM sank 8-of-18 attempts from the free-throw line (44.4 percent)
- The Lady Tigers scored four points off of 10 turnovers
- The Lobos tallied 19 points on 14 turnovers
- UNM outscored GSU 23-2 in fast-break points
- New Mexico held a 27-25 advantage in bench points
- The Lobos led the Lady Tigers in second-chance points 12-6
- GSU was outscored 54-32 on points in the paint
