GSU Concludes Play at SFA Tournament Against HBU

NACOGDOCHES, Texas | The Grambling State University women's volleyball team dropped the final match of the Stephen F. Austin Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Houston Baptist on Saturday morning at Shelton Gymnasium.

Houston Baptist (9-5) claimed the match 25-19, 25-12, 25-18.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grambling State (3-6) jumped out to an 8-4 lead in the opening set after a kill by Tess Reynolds.
- Houston Baptist battled back and grabbed the lead for good after a kill by Audrey Pearce, giving the Huskies a 15-14 lead.
- HBU took the opening set as a kill by Sara Arroyo gave the Huskies the 25-19 win.
- Grambling State fell behind 16-5 in the second set and could not recover in a 25-12 loss as HBU took a 2-0 advantage.
- In the third set, a kill by Rayven McKenzie gave the Lady Tigers a 9-8 advantage, but the Huskies pulled forward and took a 14-11 lead after a Jada Taylor service error.
- The Lady Tigers could not recover as Houston Baptist claimed the match in three sets.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State finished with 28 kills, 24 errors and 95 total attacks
- The Lady Tigers recorded 12 kills, eight errors and 34 total attacks, while hitting .118 in the third set
- Tamaira Johnson led the offense with seven kills and one block
- Semira Fields tallied six kills, seven digs, four assists and one block
- Saige Rivers added six kills
- Kalee Cadwell registered 13 assists
- Jada Taylor led the defense with 16 digs
- Grambling State rgistered 43 digs, 25 assists, six block assists and a pair of service aces
- Houston Baptist finished with 38 kills, 12 errors and 97 total attacks
- The Huskies hit .412 in the second set, with 16 kills, two errors and 34 total attacks
- Audrey Pearce recorded 15 kills and a team-high six blocks
- Jada Allen added 11 kills
- Ellie Wipf dished out 28 assists
- Kaley Feris recorded eight digs
- Houston Baptist tallied 40 digs, 33 assists, 16 block assists and four service aces
