SHREVEPORT, La. | The Grambling State University women's volleyball team dropped a three-set affair, 3-0, to Centenary on Tuesday evening at the Golden Dome.
The Ladies swept the Lady Tigers 25-23, 25-22, 25-20.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Centenary had a fast paced start, getting out in front, 12-3, in the opening set.
- The Lady Tigers (3-7) fought back, cutting the deficit to 18-17, after a block by
A'Lexus Everett and
Ashtyn Chambers.
- Grambling State continued to trail Centenary, but fight wasn't enough as the Ladies got away with the first set 25-23.
-The Lady Tigers battled to keep the second set close from the beginning, scoring their first point with a kill from
Rayven McKenzie.
-Centenary crawled back into the game tying the score twice before stealing set two from the Lady Tigers 25-22.
-Another close set followed in the third, but Grambling State could not recover in an effort to keep the match alive and Centenary sealed the match, 25-20.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State finished with 36 kills, 20 errors and 129 total attacks

Tamaira Johnson led the offense with 10 kills

A'Lexus Everett added six more kills and eight blocks

Rayven McKenzie finished with five kills, two blocks, and nine digs
- The Lady Tigers dished out a total of 60 digs, 29 assists, five solo blocks and two aces
- Alyssa Davis led the way for the Ladies with 17 kills, two aces, two blocks, and 16 digs
- Liz Lowe followed with nine kills and two aces
- Mariah Martinez ended the night with 25 assists and ten digs
- Marichael Clarin-Jan had one ace and 17 assists
- Centenary wrapped up with 46 kills, 22 errors, and 139 total attacks

The Lady Tigers begin Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC)play on the road at the University of Arkansas at Pine-Bluff on Monday, Sept. 27. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. at H.O. Clemmons Arena.
