GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State soccer team came out fired up in the second half of their game today against the visiting Alabama A&M, scoring four unanswered goals to claim a 4-0 home win.
How It Happened
After an even first half where neither side saw a lot of shots and no goals, the SWAC reigning Conference Offensive Player of the Week
Karlyn Judge took control of the game in the 39
th minute of the match after a steal from defender Adri Pratt who dribbled and played it to Judge, where she slotted a brilliant strike by the keeper for the eventual game winner.
Judge then assisted on the next goal in the 72
nd minute, her sixth assist on the year, playing a nice overlapping ball to midfielder
Aria Whitney who took a few touches and then rocketed a shot over the keeper's head and into the back of the net.
Freshman
Valentina Guzman notched her first goal of her collegiate career in the 84
th minute to move the score up to 3-0, before Judge struck again with her second goal of the day in the 89
th minute assisted by
Aria Whitney to make the final score-line 4-0.
GSU played a great defensive game only allowing two shots on goal to notch their sixth shutout of the season.
Madison Covey-Taylor played the full 90 minutes in the net to secure the clean sheet. The overall shot count was 16-10 for the game in favor of GSU.
With the win the Tigers move to 4-0 in Conference play and to 6-4-3 overall on the season.
