Jackson, Miss. | The Grambling State University women's volleyball team faced off against Jackson State University in a competitive SWAC matchup at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center on Sunday afternoon. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Tigers fell 3-1, with set scores of 25-14, 25-23, 23-25, and 28-26. This loss brings Grambling's record to 7-13 overall and 3-5 in SWAC play, while Jackson State improves to 9-9 overall and 5-2 in the conference.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Jackson State set the tone early by taking the first set 25-14 as Grambling struggled to find its footing. In the second set, the Tigers mounted a strong challenge but fell short, losing 25-23. Grambling showed resilience by rallying to win the third set 25-23. However, the fourth set was an intense back-and-forth battle, featuring multiple lead changes, but Jackson State managed to edge out a 28-26 win, clinching the match.Â
KEY PERFORMERSÂ
• Essence Allen led Grambling with 13 kills and 7 digs, making significant contributions on both ends of the court.Â
• Ra'Niya Brown added 4 kills and posted an impressive .375 hitting percentage, playing a key role at the net.Â
• Lauryn Bourne recorded 8 kills and 16 digs, while Leticia Correa tallied 26 assists.Â

• The Tigers registered 38 kills on 152 attacks for a .158 hitting percentage, while Jackson State notched 63 kills on 170 attempts, hitting .206.Â
