Grambling Sweeps Alcorn in Dominant 3-0 WinÂ
LORMAN, MS | The Grambling State University women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory over Alcorn on October 3rd at the Davey L. Whitney Health & Physical Education Complex. With this win, Grambling improved to 5-9 overall and 2-1 in SWAC play, while Alcorn fell to 1-11 overall and 0-3 in conference.Â
Grambling took control early, securing the first set 25-12 before facing a tougher battle in the second set, which they won 27-25. The Tigers maintained momentum, closing out the match with a 25-18 win in the third set.Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERSÂ
• Essence Allen led the Tigers with 12 kills, 10 digs, and 1 assist, hitting at a .423 percentage and contributing 12 points.Â
• Lauryn Bourne followed closely with 12 kills, 8 digs, 1 block, and 1 service ace, tallying 14 points and hitting .235.Â
• Madison Reagins had 5 kills, 2 digs, and 2 block assists, finishing with 6.5 points and a .500 hitting percentage.Â
• Kennya Sykes was highly efficient with 6 kills on 7 attempts, hitting at an impressive .857 percentage, adding 1 block assist for 7 points.Â
• Aubriegh Haxton provided stability on both ends with 3 kills on 5 attempts, hitting .400, and 4 digs.Â
• Grambling posted a .254 team hitting percentage while holding Alcorn to just .094.Â
The Tigers tallied 46 kills and 59 digs, while the Braves struggled offensively with only 26 kills and 46 digs.Â
