HOUSTON, TX. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team battled back and forth with Texas Southern, earning a 2–2 draw on Sunday afternoon at Durley Field to remain unbeaten in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
With the result, Grambling moves to 6–6–4 overall and 3–0–2 in SWAC action, while Texas Southern stands at 6–6–4 and 4–1–1 in league play.
The match started fast, with four goals scored in the opening 16 minutes.
Texas Southern struck first in the second minute when Bailey Buckner converted to give them an early lead.
Grambling answered in the seventh minute as
Sophia Lezizidis buried a pass from
Liana Bryant to even the score at 1–1.
Just moments later, TSU regained the advantage through Kamara Bradley, but Grambling quickly responded again.
In the 16th minute, Chloe Bryant finished a feed from Kaylen Jankans to tie the match at 2–2.
The score held for the final 74 minutes.
Grambling dominated the attacking stats, firing 25 shots, including nine on target, and earning nine corner kicks.
Alana Aiken and
Liana Bryant led the charge offensively, combining for 10 shots.
Jaliyah Clark made one save in goal.
