Grambling State Overpowered by Baylor University in 76–35 Road Loss

WACO, TX. | Baylor overwhelmed Grambling State from the opening minutes, rolling to a 76–35 victory Sunday at Foster Pavilion.

The Bears built an early 24–2 first-quarter edge and never looked back. Baylor improved to 7–1 while the Lady Tigers fell to 1–8.

Grambling managed just two points in the first quarter and scored eight in the second, trailing 37–10 at halftime.

The Tigers played their best basketball in the third, posting 20 points, but Baylor's balanced attack and physical interior play kept the margin out of reach.

The Bears closed the game with a 19-point fourth quarter to secure the decisive final score.

Zaria Johnson led Grambling with 14 points (5-of-17, 2-of-8 3PT) and two rebounds in 36 minutes.

Alieghya Bartholomew provided energy off the bench with six points, six offensive rebounds contributing to Grambling's 16 offensive rebounding opportunities.

Shaniah Nunn added five points and three rebounds. Grambling finished 13-of-65 from the field (20.0%) and 2-of-14 from three (14.3%).

Baylor shot 29-of-57 (50.9%) overall, hit 8-of-23 from long range (34.8%) and made 10-of-11 free throws.

Taliah Scott paced the Bears with 17 points (3-of-11 3PT) and nine free throws, while Bella Fontleroy added 11 points and Darianna Littlepage-Buggs chipped in 10 with a game-high 16 rebounds (13 defensive, 3 offensive).

The Bears dominated inside, outscoring Grambling 34–16 in the paint and converting second-chance opportunities off 13 offensive rebounds.
