Lady Tigers Push Past UAPB for Second Straight SWAC Victory

PINE BLUFF, Ark. | Grambling State volleyball continued its strong play on Thursday evening, outlasting Arkansas–Pine Bluff in four sets, 3–1, inside H.O. Clemmons Arena.

The Lady Tigers improved to 6–17 overall and 4–8 in SWAC play, while the Golden Lions dropped to 1–24 and 1–11 in the conference.

Grambling took the match by scores of 27–25, 25–15, 24–26, and 25–20, controlling key moments down the stretch to secure its second consecutive conference win.

Junior outside hitter Kenya Lucas powered the offense with 16 kills, while Ra'Niya Brown and Rihianna Brown chipped in eight apiece.

Setter Alayna Howard directed the attack with 30 assists and added three service aces, and Amaris Marks led the defense with 13 digs.

The Lady Tigers hit .272 as a team while holding UAPB to .279, forcing timely errors and capitalizing on long rallies.




HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Grambling opened the night with resilience, erasing several UAPB runs to take the first frame 27–25. Key kills from Lucas and Rihianna Brown fueled the late push, while Reece Cook's clutch serving helped close out the set in extra points.

Set 2: The Lady Tigers dominated the second set from start to finish, storming ahead early on a 7–0 run behind Howard'sserving and Lucas' efficiency at the net. Grambling hit an impressive .375 in the frame while limiting UAPB to just .000, rolling to a 25–15 win and a 2–0 match lead.

Set 3: UAPB found momentum midway through the third, edging the Lady Tigers 26–24 despite several late Grambling rallies. Rihianna Brown's back-to-back aces kept the set tight, but the Golden Lions capitalized on a few GSU miscues to extend the match.

Set 4: Grambling regrouped and delivered a strong finish in the fourth, building an early cushion behind Marks and Lucas. Howard's steady playmaking and Leisey Keli'i's serving sealed the deal as the Lady Tigers closed out the match 25–20.
