Grambling State Comes Up Short in 82–75 Loss to Central Arkansas

GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State came up just short Saturday afternoon, falling 82–75 to Central Arkansas inside the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

The Lady Tigers drop to 1–9 on the season, while the Bears improve to 7–3.

Central Arkansas controlled the opening quarter, holding Grambling State to 10 points and taking a 17–10 lead after one.

The Tigers responded in the second period, erupting for 24 points behind efficient shooting and strong bench play to trim the deficit to just two, trailing 36–34 at halftime.

Grambling continued its momentum after the break, shooting 60 percent in the third quarter as Monica Marsh and Shaniah Nunn helped keep the game tight.

The contest featured 12 ties and six lead changes with neither team able to create separation until late.

Central Arkansas capitalized in the fourth quarter, scoring 23 points and converting timely free throws to hold off Grambling's push.

The Tigers stayed within striking distance in the final minutes but were unable to close the gap as the Bears sealed the win at the line.

Marsh led Grambling State with 16 points, knocking down three three-pointers while adding four assists.

Zaria Johnson added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Nunn finished with 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

Jamirica Roberson provided a spark off the bench with 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting helping Grambling win the bench scoring battle.

As a team, Grambling State shot 46.0 percent from the field and matched Central Arkansas with eight three-pointers.

The Tigers recorded 32 bench points and forced 15 turnovers but were edged on the glass and at the free-throw line.
