FORT MYERS, Fla. | The Grambling State women's soccer team was unable to overcome an early deficit, falling 3-0 to Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday night at Pickering Field.
With the result, Grambling moves to 2-4-2 on the season, while FGCU improves to 3-3-1.
The Eagles broke through in the 30th minute when Tessa Brooks finished a pass from Elena Hinkson to make it 1-0.
Less than two minutes later, FGCU doubled the advantage from an own goal in the 32nd minute.
Erika Zschuppe put the game out of reach late in the second half, scoring in the 84th minute off assists from Kate Friday and Kendal Gargiula.
Grambling generated several opportunities in the second half.
The Tigers fired five shots after the break but were unable to find the back of the net.
