GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State led for nearly the entire contest Thursday evening, pulling away late for a 65–54 victory over Arkansas–Pine Bluff in Southwestern Athletic Conference action inside the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
The Tigers set the tone early opening the game on an 8–2 run and carrying a 20–10 lead after the first quarter.
Grambling maintained control through the second period outscoring UAPB 18–15 to take a 38–25 advantage into halftime.
Arkansas–Pine Bluff attempted to close the gap in the second half, but Grambling responded with timely stops and rebounding.
The Tigers extended the margin to as many as 18 points midway through the fourth quarter and held UAPB scoreless from beyond the arc for the entire game.
Shaniah Nunn led Grambling State with 14 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
Zaria Johnson added a team-high 17 points while shooting 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Monica Marsh chipped in 12 points.
D'Mya Griffin provided a spark off the bench with nine points including two three-pointers.
Grambling forced 32 turnovers and converted them into 35 points, while also holding a 19–12 advantage on the offensive glass to secure the conference win.
