Lady Tigers Season Ends as Championship Run Falls Short

Irondale, AL--- The Grambling State Lady Tigers softball team season ended in a, 11-2, loss to the Lady Braves of Alcorn State in the semi-finals round of the 2010 Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Tournament.

 

Grambling, winners of four of their final six games, advanced through the tournament posting 5-4 wins over both Alcorn and Jackson State and falling, 1-13, to the Lady Braves.

 

The Lady Tigers jumped out in front early holding a 1-0 lead through the first two innings on a Mikiesha Henson home run with two outs.  Taylor Texada added a two-out's solo homerun of her own in the bottom of the sixth to provide all of Grambling's scoring.  Patrice Bailey pitched a complete game receiving the loss.

 

Alcorn's Britt Crayton went three-for-three at the plate with a run scored and a RBI.  Adrin Harring went two-for-four scoring two runs with six RBI's.  Amy Blakeney went the distance allowing two earned runs with five strikeouts.

 

Grambling's Kiara Dedeaux was named to the All-Tournament team after batting .500 (5-for-10) with a run scored.
