Lady Tigers Drop Home Opener

Grambling, LA---The Grambling State Lady Tigers Volleyball team suffered a hard fought 3-0 loss to the Ladies of Centenary College in their home opener tonight in the Men's Memorial Gymnasium on the GSU campus.

The Lady Tigers playing in their first match since participating in the University of Arkansas Tournament made a strong showing early though falling 25-15, 26-24 and 25-19. Grambling was led offensively by Shawonna Davis with 11 kills, five service aces, three digs and four blocks. Chelsea Goins recorded 15 digs.

“Our girls really looked good tonight despite the outcome,” said Interim Head Coach Demetria Keys-Johnson. “What we have to do now is learn to keep our intensity. Once we can finish as strong as we start we will be a good team.”

Grambling will return to action Thursday night when they travel to Alcorn State, MS to face the Lady Braves of Alcorn State.
