GRAMBLING---The Grambling State Lady Tigers softball team made short work of Texas College today in both games of a double header destroying the Lady Steers, 19-0 and 15-0, in the Lady Tigers home opener.

Brandi Payne was perfect on the mound today as the Lady Steers lone base runner came on an error in the fifth and final inning. The Lady Tigers picked up their 19 runs on 15 hits committing the single error. Texas College committed seven errors.
GSU was led by
Jana Matthews who went 4-for-4 with four RBI's and two runs scored. Latrice Woods went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI.
Angela Perez and
Taylour Smith recorded two hits and three runs each.
The Lady Tigers pelted out seven runs on 11 hits in the first two innings to set the tone as Grambling once again dismantled Texas College. The Lady Steers were once again held at bay with their only real threat coming with one out in the third inning when they loaded the bases on three consecutive GSU errors. The Lady Tigers, however, escaped unscathed turning a double play to get out of the inning.
Chelsea Felton shined on both ends for the Lady Tigers. At the plate Felton was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI's, while picking up the win on the mound allowing only two hits with six strikeouts in five innings of work.
Mikiesha Henson went 3-for-3 with three RBI's and a run scored.
The Lady Tigers (4-2) will return to action this weekend when they take part in the Alcorn State Lady Braves Classic.
