GRAMBLING, Louisiana (February 22, 2013) - After sweeping a double header from Texas College this past week, the Grambling State University Softball team will hit the road this weekend to play in the Central Arkansas Tournament in Conway, Arkansas.
The Lady Tigers have faced some very stiff competition during the early part of this season and Head Softball Coach
Wilbert Early believes that playing good competition is a good measuring stick of where the program is. “We really can see where we are at as a team when we play against tough competition”, said Coach Early. “We know that going into any game we need to pitch well and be disciplined at the plate. Our team also needs to play good defense in the field and not make mental mistakes.”
Grambling scored a season high 16 runs against Texas College and was led at the plate by
Angela Perez in game one against the Lady Steers as she went three of four at the plate and scored three runs. In the two game set GSU scored a total of 26 runs.
This weekend GSU will face Ball State and Northern Iowa on Friday and then Creighton University and the home team Central Arkansas on Sunday.
