Box Score MADISON, Miss. --Hitting the road for the fifth time in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, the cool temps at the beginning of the competition resulted in cold Grambling State University bats as the Lady Tigers managed just one run on four hits in falling to the Alabama State Lady Hornets 1-7 Saturday afternoon at Madison Central High School.
GSU (3-17, 2-3 SWAC) dropped its twentieth game this year, as Alabama State (10-22, 4-1) starting pitcher Melissa Christmann didn't allow GSU to capitalize on the chances it had early, as the team stranded five runners on base over the course of the contest. Brianna Madien recorded a home run in the bottom of the second inning for GSU and
Nicolette Wunderly pitched seven innings in the loss.
Next, the Lady Tigers will travel this upcoming weekend to take on Southwestern Athletic Conference rival Southern University on Saturday, April 3
rd at 3:00 p.m. The Lady Tigers will close out the series in doubleheader action on Sunday, April 4
th at 12:00 p.m.
