Lady Tigers Fall to Jackson State in Opening Round of the SWAC Tournament

Box Score Decatur, Ala. --- The Grambling State University Lady Tigers took the field looking to secure the victory in its opening round at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Softball Championships Wednesday evening against Jackson State. Unfortunately the Lady Tigers dropped a 5-12 decision in the contest

Grambling State started scoring in the first inning to take a 5-1 lead in the game. Kendalyn Arceneaux's double advanced Nicole Ene to third and brought home Nicolette Wunderly, recording a runner batted in. Aaliyah Lowe's single brought home Kendalyn Arceneaux and Brianna Maiden, recording two runners batted in, which secure the final points for Grambling in the competition. Jackson State answered with adding one point in the bottom of the first inning. The GSU Lady Tigers couldn't hold off JSU, who answered with 11 more points in the remaining five innings of the competition, securing the victory 5-12.

Next, the Lady Tigers will take on Southwestern Athletic Conference rival Southern University today at 5 p.m. at Wilson Morgan Park in Decatur, Alabama, on field one.
