Lady Tigers Split Doubleheader With Langston

GSU wins first game,11-2; Langston wins second, 10-8

The Grambling State University Lady Tiger softball team won one of two games at home Monday (March 14) against the Lady Lions of Langton University. Grambling State secured the first game victory, 11-2. Langston won the second game, 10-8.

In the first game, the Lady Tigers fell behind early in the first inning. Sophomore outfielder, Drew Hernandez-Thompson, was the first to cross the plate for the Lady Tigers by RBI. Grambling gained momentum offensively and took advantage of LU's errors. The Lady Tigers scored five runs off of the Lady Lions' mistakes. GSU ended the fifth inning converting two RBI's. The final score was 11-2.

Grambling State struggled in the second game. The Lady Lions secured an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. GSU couldn't hold off the Lady Lions as they continued to stretch the lead to 10-4 in the first four innings. The Lady Tigers made a run in the seventh and final inning, closing the gap but coming up short. The final score was 10-8.

The GSU Lady Tigers (2-13) enter Southwestern Athletic Conference play this week as they face the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University (1-18) in a couple of away games Thursday (March 18) at 12 noon and again at 2 p.m.
