GRAMBLING, La. – Texas Southern defeated Grambling State 10-2 behind three RBI from Amber Garza on Saturday.

TXSO (23-14, 15-2 SWAC) opened up an advantage quickly, scoring six of its runs in the first inning. Garza (2-for-2, 2 2B) picked up all of her RBI in the frame thanks to a bases-clearing double. However, Texas Southern stranded three runners in the frame. The home-standing Tigers (4-25, 1-10 SWAC) scored twice in the fourth thanks to a RBI triple by Hailey Haynes and a RBI sac fly by Samara Perry, but it was too little, too late.

Grambling State's Alexus Brown dropped to 0-15 on the season, issuing eight walks and allowing 10 runs (9 earned) on seven hits.

Tyra Williams had a workman-like effort, allowing two hits and striking out three in the complete game win. Tiffany Marshall added two RBI.
