GSU pitch in earlier game
Box Score The Lady Tiger softball team lost to the Lady Jaguars of Southern University in a double header Tuesday (April 26) at the Grambling State University Softball Complex.

Southern swept Grambling State in both games, winning 14-3 in the first game and finishing 11-0 in the second.

Southern started game one just how they finished Monday's game -- with a lot of good hits. The Lady Jaguars took the lead early. Junior pitcher Alexis Brown started the game for GSU, and she gave up three hits to Southern in the top of the first. Southern converted two RBIs. Grambling State sparked some good offense at the bottom of the first as sophomore Hailey Haynes made a good hit down the middle and gained an RBI. GSU scored off of an error, ending the inning down by only one, 3-2.

Brown continued to struggle in the second. Two errors gave Southern an advantage, and the Lady Jaguars took over from there. GSU freshman Juliana Dominguez subbed at pitcher, and  the Lady Tigers continued to struggle defensively. Southern kept the bases loaded and that resulted in 10 points for the Lady Jaguars. The Lady Tigers only scored one point the rest of the game. Southern finished with 14 runs and they were scoreless in the final inning.

Game two was not much better for Grambling State. The home team could not make much happen offensively, leaving them scoreless the entire game. Southern continued to make plays offensively with four hits at the top of the first and three RBIs. In the third, the Lady Jaguars pulled away with back-to-back RBIs from senior Alicia Barajas and sophomore Sydney Andrews. Southern's defense remained strong, denying the Lady Tigers opportunities to score. By the end of the fourth inning, the Lady Jaguars led 11-0. Grambling kept them from scoring in the fifth inning, but the effort still resulted in a loss.

The Lady Tigers will face the Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech Wednesday (April 27) at La Tech at 6 p.m.
