GRAMBLING, La. (Softball) – After going winless in the University of Louisiana at Monroe Mardi Gras Classic, the Grambling State University Lady Tigers softball team looks to bounce back as they travel to Longview, Texas. GSU will go head to head with the Jarvis Christian College Lady Bulldogs in a non-conference double header on Wednesday starting at 1 p.m.
Hailey Haynes will have to be great in the batter's box for the Lady Tigers to come away with two wins. Haynes leads Grambling with a .375 batting average and slugging average. Defensively,
Mercedes Williams and Kendayln Arceneaux must repeat their performance of a combined 22 putouts to seal the victory.
Currently, JCC has an overall record of 0-3 with losses to Tennessee State University, Jackson State University, and Southeast Missouri State University. The Lady Bulldogs losses to TSU and SMSU were in five innings. Jarvis Christian was able to hang in the game with Jackson State and lose by one run, 4-3.
Taylor Leslie carries the big bat for the Lady Bulldogs as she leads the team with a .571 batting average and two runs batted in. Cynthia Velasquez is the defensive leader for the team with 11 putouts on the season.
