Coming off of a big win over the SWAC-leading Texas Southern University team, the Grambling State University Lady Tigers continue conference play on home court Saturday (February 20) against the Lady Jaguars of Jackson State University.
The Lady Tigers have won four of the last five games, and they are looking for another win at the 3 p.m. game at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center on the GSU campus. Grambling State University stands in fourth (12-12; 9-4 SWAC) and Jackson State University stands in fifth (12-12; 6-7 SWAC).

Shakyla Hill leads the team in scoring, averaging 13 points per game. Hill was named SWAC Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for her outstanding performance against Texas Southern Monday night (February 15) and against Prairie View A&M University last week. Jazmine Boyd has also been a major contributor for the Lady Tigers. She averages 10.8 points per game.
Almost a month ago (January 23), the Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Jaguars on in Jackson, Mississippi. The Lady Tigers had four players in double digits. GSU capitalized on the Lady Jaguar's 34 turnovers, converting them to 32 points. Defense is key , and the Lady Tigers must control the boards better. GSU gave up 26 offensive rebounds to JSU during the last game, resulting in 17 second chance points.
Derica Wiggins leads the Lady Jaguars in scoring with 11.8 points per game. Bridget Robinson follows with 7.5 points per game. Wiggins put up 13 points and three steals against the Lady Tigers on January 23. The Lady Jaguars are going to need more help from the bench to finish with a win against GSU.
The Saturday game is a "Greek Night" as GSU encourages all greek organization members to come out wearing their colors and supporting the home team.
