Lady Tigers Travel to Jackson State

GRAMBLING, La. (Women's basketball) -- The first-place Grambling State University Lady Tigers women's basketball team seeks to extend their seven-game winning streak on Saturday on the road in Jackson, Miss. against the Jackson State University Lady Tigers at 5:30pm.

Grambling earned first place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference as they handed Texas Southern University their worst conference lost since 2013, 64-52, and survived a thriller in OT to beat Prairie View A&M, 60-55. The Lady Tigers (12-12, 10-3) haven't lost in over month, ironically their last lost was to Prairie View in Houston, Texas. In another twist of fate, Grambling State's streak began with Jackson State.

During the streak, Shakyla Hill and Monisha Neal have given conference opponents fits. Both, Hill and Neal have had two games with the highest point total. Hill scored 13 points against the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and 18 points against PVAMU. Neal scored 26 points against Jackson State and 14 points against Alcorn State University. In addition, both players crash the boards in competition. Neal led the Lady Tigers in rebounding three games and Hill led in four games.

JSU (8-15, 2-11 SWAC) has lost their last 10-of-11 games with their lone win coming over Prairie View A&M with a score of 74-60. In Jackson State's last game, the team lost close game to Texas Southern, 66-63.
