Grambling State University to host Southwestern Athletic Conference basketball quarterfinals

Interim head coach Freddie Murray, coaching staff and Lady Tigers set to play Mississippi Valley State University in opening round of the SWAC Basketball Tournament.

GRAMBLING, La. (Women's Basketball) -- Grambling State University will be the host site to one of four games of the quarterfinals round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) basketball tournament on Tuesday, March 7 in the Fredrick C. Hobdy Arena Center.

The Lady Tigers (16-13, 14-4 SWAC) earned a share of the SWAC and remain in the number one spot with their win over Alabama A&M University on Saturday night. Grambling shares the title with Texas Southern University and clinched the tie breaker with TSU for the No. 1 seed. This is the first time Grambling has went into the SWAC Tournament ranked No. 1 since the 1999-2000 season. The Lady Tigers' ranking in the conference affords the team home-court advantage to host their opponents.

The matchup between the Lady Tigers and Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes (10-19, 7-11 SWAC) will begin at 5:30 p.m. General admission is $20. GSU season ticket holders can purchase tickets for $15. Grambling State students can enter for free  with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at the GSU Ticket Office by calling (318) 274-4795 or by visiting the office. The GSU ticket office hours are 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday – Thursday and 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.

High School Coaches Association will not be accepted for this game. SWAC All-Access passes can be used to gain entry.
